Reminder
Parent/Teacher Conferences are Tuesday and Wednesday.  I am looking forward to meeting with everyone.

Reading/Language Arts
We will be reading:  Stella Writes on Opinion, What Pet Should We Get?, A Fine, Fine School, The Day the Crayons Quit, and Hey, Little Ant.  
Vocabulary:  opinion, support, reason, introduce, hook, concluding statement, and text evidence.
Focus:  opinion writing
Children will be filling out a graphic organizer.  It will include:  an opinion statement, 3 reasons and examples, and a concluding statement.

Math
There will be a review and test on Numbers to 1000.  We will begin 2-digit addition.  Children will find sums by breaking apart a 1-digit addend to make a 2-digit addend a multiple of 10.



Fire Safety Assembly
We learned that we need to plan two escape routes from our home and to have a meeting place. We also learned the importance of a smoke detector and not to go back into a building that is burning.  

Social Studies
We will learn about diversity in communities.  In New York there is  a Chinatown, Little Italy, and Central Park.
