Special Thanks
We would like to thank the families of Maya, Kayley, Jack, and Billy (a previous student) for purchasing gift certificates.  We were able to purchase five books for our classroom library.

Reading/Language Arts
We will continue with the Name Jar.  Children will share the meaning of their name with their classmates.  We will read Owen and Mzee, The True Story of a Remarkable Friendship by Isabella and Craig Hatkoff, and Dr. Paula Kahumbu.  During a tsunami in Southeast Asia and baby hippo was separated from his mother.  He was brought to a sanctuary where a tortoise befriended him and the two became inseparable.  
Vocabulary:  commotion, enclosure, anxious, inseparable, hoisted, sanctuary
Focus:  determine the meaning of words, ask and answer questions


Mr. Rhoad's lion came to visit our classroom. 
We were excited to see him reading Charlotte's Web.  


Math
Children will be writing 2-digit numbers in word form, expanded form, and standard form.  They will solve problems by finding different combinations of tens and ones to represent 2-digit numbers using the strategy find a pattern.

Science
Queen Anna Banana teaches "Little D" about the fruit group.  We need to eat foods from the fruit group to help heal cuts and bruises.
