Open House & Book Fair
Everyone is invited to our Open House and Book Fair on Thursday, April 21st from 6:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.  
The children are looking forward to sharing their many projects with family and friends.





Earth Day
A letter was sent home today about Earth Day.  Please have your child wear a blue (if possible) shirt on Tuesday, April 19th for a school picture to celebrate Earth Day.




Language Arts
We have finished our animal reports and everyone has done a wonderful job.  We can't wait to share our projects for Open House.
Next week we will be reading Owl Moon, by Jane Yolen and Owls, by Michael George.  Owl Moon is a fiction story about a young girl and her father looking for owls on a cold winter night.  Owls, is a non fiction story.  We will learn about the characteristics of owls, where they live, and how they hunt for food.
Focus: comparing and contrasting stories 
Vocabulary: clearing, echo, meadow, owling, pumped, shadows, threading, active, blend, curved, outlines, swoops, easily, backwards

Math 
We have begun 3-digit addition.  Next week, we will be adding 3-digit numbers with and without regrouping tens, estimating sums for 3-digit numbers and solving problem by using the skill too much information.  There will be a test on 3-digit addition with and without regrouping.

Social Studies
We will begin a new unit, Our Country Long Ago.

Reading - read for 20 minutes and complete Reading Log
Math - practice facts
Spelling - new words will be given on Wednesday
