Reading/Language Arts
Next week we will read Two Bad Ants, by Chris Van Allsburg, and Ants by Rebecca Stefoff, Two Bad Ants, is a fiction story about working together. Two ants decide to go off on their own into a kitchen filled with danger. Ants, is a non fiction story filled with fun facts about ants around the world.
Our focus will be: summarizing, compare/contrast, and questioning
The children will be writing a comic strip about how two friends work together and help each other.
This week we read about owls. The children enjoyed dissecting an owl pellet and sharing their findings with their classmates.
Math
We will be subtracting numbers with/without regrouping in the tens and hundreds place.
Children will also be adding and subtracting money amounts using decimal notation.
Social Studies
We will be comparing the lives and contributions of various Native American groups: the Powhatan, the Sioux, and the Pueblo.
Homework
Reading - read for 20 minutes and complete Reading Log
Math - practice facts
Spelling - practice words, test on Friday
