New Arrivals - our class caterpillars have arrived.
Feed My Starving Children - Adults and children are invited to participate in an evening at Feed My Starving Children on Thursday, April 30th at the Aurora location from 6:00-7:30 p.m. A letter is being sent home with additional information, you sign up online or return the bottom portion of the letter.
Reading/Language Arts
Habitat Research - children will be working with a partner to research and write a report on two habitats. The report will include: an introduction with a hook, two paragraphs describing the different habitats, a Venn diagram (comparing the habitats), and text features (headings, table of contents, fun facts, illustrations/pictures, map, etc.)
Math
There will be a review and test on Topic 15, Measuring Length. We will begin Topic 16, Time, Graphs and Data:
- vocabulary - minutes, hours, A.M., P.M.
- learn to associate numerals on an analog clock with increments of 5 minutes
- read and express time in terms of quarter, half past an hour and before an hour, quarter past, and quarter to
- represent a set of data in a bar graph and use the bar graph to solve problems
Social Studies
Lesson 1 - The First Americans
- compare the lives and contributions of various Native American Groups
Lesson 2 - Colonies
- weather patterns, natural resources, seasonal patterns, and natural hazard affect activities and settlement patterns
