Everyone had a great time learning about the history and
current practice of making maple syrup at Fullersburg Nature Center.  We would like to thank our chaperones Mrs. Chlopek, Mrs. Edie, and Mrs. Major for joining us.

Reminder -  Report cards went home today.  Please sign and have your child return the envelope.

Reading
The story for next week will be The Big Orange Splot, by Daniel Manus Pinkwater.  Mr. Plumbean lives on a street where all the houses look alike.  A seagull splashes orange paint on Mr. Plumbean's house. and he decides to paint his house to reflect his colorful dreams.
We will be doing a close read focusing on:

  • key ideas and details
  • craft and structure 
  • vocabulary words:  belfry, mush, splot, and hawser
Math
Topic 14, Money

  • subtract using 2-digit coin amount
  • estimating the sum and differences of 2 two-digit numbers
  • solve problems involving adding and subtracting money by using the try, check and revise strategy
Science
  • vocabulary words:  resource, natural resource, pollution, reuse, reduce, recycle, endangered
  • identify ways that resources are wasted
  • learn ways people cause can a positive or negative change to the environment
Homework
