Student of the Week
Mark






2nd Grade Concert-

 will be on Thursday, November 20th.  The children have been busy working on the songs and are doing a fantastic job. 

Reading/Language Arts
We will be reading Tara and Bella, by Carol Buckley.  It is a story about an inter-species friendship between an elephant, Tarra and a mixed-breed dog, Bella.  Tara remained alone until she met Bella and the two became inseparable.
We did some work on pronouns and will continue with them next week.

Math
Students have been working on learning different strategies for subtracting.  We will review for a test on Topic 7, Mental Subtraction.  We will begin Topic 8, Adding Two-Digit Numbers.
The lessons include regrouping 10 ones for 1 ten, adding 2-digit and 1-digit numbers and adding 2-digit numbers.

Science
We have been learning about the needs of living things.  Next week students will observe and compare the body coverings of animals.  We will learn about the characteristics of vertebrate groups and how they are used to group animals together.

Junior Achievement
Ms. Luanne Spiros, an employee of McDonald's will be joining our class on Tuesday.
She will be presenting lessons on the community.  Students will learn about the variety of jobs in a community and how people work together.

Homework
Reading - read for 20 minutes and complete Reading Log, remember to add the minutes to the reading log for Six Flags, Great America
Math - practice facts and workbook page (most days)
Spelling - different word sorts, practice words
