Reading/Language Arts
 We will continue to watch a documentary of the story Owen and Mzee.  Students will collect information about the hippo or tortoise using books, articles and the Internet.  They will be writing an expository using their information.
We will continue with common, proper, plural and collective nouns.

Math
Students will be exploring different strategies to subtract 2-digit numbers.  They will also determine whether they can solve problems with missing information or extra information.

Science
Next week we will begin Unit A, A World of Living Things.  We will discuss the characteristics that distinguish living and nonliving things.  Students will learn to identify the basic needs of animals and plants and how their needs depend on their size and type.

Homework
Reading - read for 20 minutes and complete Reading Log and Log for Great America
