Curriculum Night
Second Grade Curriculum Night is Tuesday, September 9th. I am looking forward to seeing everyone.
Reading/LA
Students continue to learn how to find good fit books. We will work on reading with a partner and asking and answering questions to show understanding. Our focus will be on comparative thinking. We will begin by describing an object by using a list of attributes. Find out how many ways your child can describe their favorite food.
Math
Addition and subtraction are related. We will learn when you add (join) two parts, you get the whole. When you subtract one part from the whole, you get the other part. Practice: name two numbers and have your child find the whole, name the whole and one part and have your child name the missing part.
Science
We will be identifying foods from the milk group. Foods from this group keep our bones and teeth healthy. Have your child look through the newspapers and find pictures of foods from the milk group.
Social Studies
Students will use context clues to identify ways people belong to different groups. We will discuss the different ways each of them belong to different groups.
