Students did a great job helping the environment by reusing and reducing trash.
They shared their projects with the class.


Reading
Theme:  Amazing Animals
Genre: Folktale
The story for this week is The Great Ball Game.  In this Muskogee legend, Bat plays an important part in a game between the Birds and the Animals.
Target Skill:
Comprehension: cause and effect; summarize
 High Frequency Words:  ago, field, half, war
Vocabulary: accept, advantage, argument, quarrel, penalty

Math
Students will solve problems by using the strategy logical reasoning.  Your child should be able to demonstrate translation, reflection and rotation.  Ask them to explain how a line of symmetry divides a plane figure into congruent figures

Science
We will begin Unit F, Energy and Motion.  Students will identify forms of energy:  heat, light, sound, solar and electricity.  Ask your child to explain ways energy and matter interact.

Social Studies
There will be a review of Unit 4, Our County for a test.  We will begin Unit 5, Our Country Long Ago.  The vocabulary words are:  shelter, tradition, explorer, colony, colonist, independence and pioneer.

Homework
Reading - read for 20 minutes, complete reading log
Math - memorize facts, 1 side of a worksheet
Spelling - word sorts, speed sort
