  Reading
Theme:  Amazing Animals
Genre: Nonfiction
The story for this week is Ant.  This photographic nonfiction book examines the physical characteristics, life cycle and natural habitat of various types of ants.
Target Skills:
Comprehension: text organization, questioning
High Frequency Words:   between, care, weigh
Vocabulary:  antennae, colonies, fungus, larvae, cocoons,  tunnels

Writing
Students will continue to collect information on their rainforest animal. They will begin writing their expository.

Math
We will begin Chapter 17, Length, Perimeter, and Area.  Students will be measuring objects in nonstandard and standard units.  They will measure in inches, feet, yards, and centimeters.

Science


GREAT JOB!
We have finished our reusing and reducing projects.





Next, we will be experimenting with wind energy.  Students will think of ways to use clay, toothpicks and paper to make a sail for a toy car.  

Social Studies
Students will compare the lives and contributions of various Native American groups and locate the regions of the Powhatan, the Sioux, and the Pueblo Native Americans.

Homework
Reading - Read for 20 minutes and complete reading log
Math - memorize facts & one side of worksheet
Spelling - spelling sorts, speed sorts
