Student of the Week
Michael
Halloween
Families are invited to watch our costume parade at 1:40 p.m. The students will walk around the outside of the school weather permitting or they will walk around inside. Our classroom party will begin at 2:00 p.m.
Reading
We will be reading, What Mary Jo Shared by Janice May Udry. Mary Jo uses an original idea to solve the problem of what to share with her class. Students will make inferences to understand characters' feelings, motivations, and actions. They will informally explore text structure in narrative texts, including character and plot.
Vocabulary - routine, expert, fade and flap
Writing
We will be reading, Dogs Don't Wear Sneakers, by Laura Numeroff. Students will write silly animal sentences to get ideas for writing a silly story.
Math
Students will model, using base ten blocks, 2-digit addition problems. There will be a test on Chapter 5, Explore 2-Digit Addition.
Science
Students will identify and describe the basic needs of animal and understand that animals' needs depend on their size and shape. Vocabulary words: survive, shelter
Social Studies
Our Country is Part of Our World - Students will learn about the relationship between home, neighborhood, community, state and country by using map and globe skills.
Homework
Reading - Read for 20 minutes and write a sentence for the Reading Log
Math - Practice facts and 1-side of the worksheet
Spelling - Practice words
