Scotty
Special ThanksWe would like to thank Claire, Reese, Scotty, Grace, Michael, Gigi and their families for making donations to our classroom library. We added 7 books to our collection and the students are anxious to begin reading them.
Wear orange and blue on Monday if the Chicago Bears win.
Reading
This week we will be reading Jamaica Tag-Along by Juanita Havill. The students will be making text-to-self connections and identifying important ideas in the story. They will be developing the skill of explaining their thinking.
Vocabulary Words: ruckus, victory, risky, glee
Math
We will review for a test on Chapter 2, Subtraction Facts and Strategies. We'll begin Chapter 3, Place Value to 100. Students will use place value to describe the value of digits in numbers.
Science
King Henry, the Egg will teach Little D that foods in the meat group give us protein to help our muscles to be strong and healthy. Princess Peapod in the story, A Visit to the Vegetable Patch, teaches us that vegetables are a good source of vitamin A and help us to see in the dark.
Social Studies
We will be discussing diversity on communities. Students will use symbols, find locations, and determine directions on maps.
