Paws for Reading - We would like to thank Bridget, Paige, Mathias, Ava, Jenna, Sofia, Ben, Mason and Delaney for logging in their reading minutes.  Together they read for a total of 2, 806 minutes and the Scholastic Book Club has donated 140 books to kids in need.

Please Remember - to log in your child's reading minutes at:  www.scholastic.com/paws, for every 20 minutes Scholastic will donate a book to charity.  This program ends on December 14th.


Reading
Theme: Around Town: 
Neighborhood and Community.
Genre: Realistic Fiction
The story for this week is Chinatown.  A boy and his grandmother spend the day enjoying the sights, sounds, and smells of Chinatown.
Target Skills
Phonics: consonant digraphs; base words and endings -er, and est.
Comprehension: making judgments;  summarize
High Frequency Words:  during, heard, lion, winter

Vocabulary Words
apartment     celebrations     delivery

Math
Students will find the differences with and without grouping.  They will rewrite subtraction problems from horizontal to vertical and use addition to check subtraction.

Science
We will analyze and describe the sequence of events of animal life cycles.  Students will recognize that animals reproduce and that their young grow to resemble them.

Social Studies
We will learn how people depend on the physical environment and its resources to meet their needs. We will also identify ways to conserve and replenish natural resources.

Homework
