Theme:  Wrap-Up Overview
Connecting and Comparing
The stories for this week are The Surprise and Hippos.  
The Surprise is a fantasy story where Martha gets angry 
at George for playing a trick, but she can't stay angry for long.  
Instead, she finds a way to get even.
Hippos is a nonfiction story that gives facts about hippos,
including where they live, what they look like, and how
they behave in the wild.

Comprehension: predicting outcomes

Reading Strategies: connecting and comparing
Vocabulary Words

Math
Students will be identifying patterns on a hundred chart 
and solving problems by using the strategy, find a pattern.

Science
We will learn about the others, the food group that includes foods 
such as chips, candy, and fruit punch.  These foods do not belong
with the 5 food groups because they do not 
help our bodies to grow and stay healthy.


Social Studies 
We will learn about the steps for problem solving: 
1.) Name the problem.  
2.) Find out more about the problem.  
3.) List ways to solve the problem. 
4.) Talk about the best way to solve the problem.   
5.) Solve the problem. 
6.) How well is the problem solved. 



Homework
Reading - read 20 minutes and complete Reading Log 
Math - worksheet and practice math facts             

Please check your child's Take Home Folder. 
They need to practice the highlighted facts and spelling words.
