Reading
Theme: Family Time
Genre: Realistic Fiction
The story for this week is The Art Lesson. It is a story about a boy who loves to draw pictures.
Target Skills:
Phonics: vowel pairs oo, ew, ue, ou
Comprehension: evaluate the way the author uses words and pictures to tell the story
High Frequency Words: aunt, million, pair
Vocabulary:  practice, ruin, powder, smock, copy, chalk, crayons

Math
Students will be estimating sums for 3-digit addition.  There will be a test on Chapter 22, Explore 3-Digit Addition and we will begin Chapter 23, Explore 3-Digit Subtraction.

Science
We have released the butterflies, so that they may pollinate flowers to make more seeds.  Students will identify ways to protect natural resources and know ways people can cause positive changes to the environment.

Social Studies
We will learn how selected customs and celebrations reflect an American love of individualism and freedom.
