We've Reached Our Goal
Thanks to all the parents and students, our class has met our goal for the 100th Day of School. We collected 102 food items for the Food Pantry.
Congratulations - Everyone received their Pizza Hut reading certificate for the month of January.
Parents- Please check your child's Take Home Folder for an envelope, inside are the results from your child's MAP assessment and a letter about tracking 2nd grade homework. Also inside your child's folder is a reading log form provided by Great America. If you would like a free ticket to Great America, please fill out the form for any books your child has read. Every student has qualified in the classroom based on the Reading Logs they have turned in this year.
Valentine's Day
Students may bring in Valentine cards to pass out to their classmates, there are 23 students. Please have your child sign the cards, but do not address the envelope. They will pass them out Tuesday morning.
Reading/Writing Workshop
Students will be reading biographies this week. They will decide which facts are important and use them to design a time line.
Target Skills:
Phonics: r-controlled vowels; words endings, -tion, -ture
Comprehension: understanding biography; evaluate
High Frequency Words: about, afraid, beautiful, believe, friend, near, surprised, watch, write, years
Vocabulary: biography, event, information, champion, fact, president
Math
Students will sort and compare solid figures by faces, edges, and vertices.
Social Studies
Students will learn how governments establish order, provide security, and manage conflict.
Homework
Reading - read 20 minutes and complete reading log
Math - practice facts & one side of a worksheet, 2 sides of a workbook page
