Reading
Theme: Amazing Animals
Genre: Nonfiction
The story for this week is Ant. This photographic nonfiction book examines the physical characteristics, life cycle and natural habitat of various types of ants.
Target Skills:
Phonics: words with nd, nt, mp, ng, nk and endings in nouns (-s, -es, -ies).
Comprehension: text organization, questioning
High Frequency Words: between, care, weigh
Vocabulary: antennae, colonies, fungus, larvae, cocoons, tunnels


Math
There will be a review on Chapter 14, Solid Figures for a test. We will begin Chapter 15, Plane Figures and Spatial Sense. Students will describe and classify plane figures and combine figures to make new figures.

Science
We will learn how fossils are formed and what scientists can learn from fossils.

Social Studies
Students will use a table to categorize information and identify selected symbols such as state birds and flowers.


Homework
Reading - read 20 minutes and complete reading log
Math - practice facts & one side of a worksheet, 2 sides of a workbook page
