Theme: Wrap-Up Overview
Connecting and Comparing Literature
The stories for this week are Grandpa's Corner Store and Barrio: Jose's Neighborhood.
Grandpa's Corner Store is realistic fiction. When a giant supermarket opens in the neighborhood, Lucy helps save her grandfather's small corner grocery store with a little help from her friends.
Barrio: Jose's Neighborhood is a nonfiction story. Jose Luis lives in el barrio-a San Francisco neighborhood where his own culture thrives and where people of many cultures live, work, and play together.
Vocabulary Words: deliveries, fiesta, flyer, traditions, grocery store, harvest, success, barrio, grand opening, supermarket, customs


Math
There will be a test on Chapter 12, Use Money. We will begin Chapter 13, Time. Students will tell time to the quarter hour and the 5 minutes. They will also tell time as minutes before the hour.

Science
There will be a test on the Unit: A World of Living Things. We will begin the next Unit: Our Earth. The vocabulary words are: erosion, earthquake, weathering, and volcano.

Social Studies
We will begin Unit 4: Our Country Today. The vocabulary words for this unit will be government, citizen, mayor, monument, motto, freedom, President and congress.

Reading - read 20 minutes and complete reading log
Math - practice facts & one side of a worksheet, 2 sides of a workbook page
