Student of the Week
Kaitlyn

Special Thanks -
I would like to thank the parents that were able to make it to Curriculum Night. It was wonderful to see you again. The children were excited to see the notes you left. I especially want to thank the parents that were able to volunteer for our class parties.

Reading/Writing Workshop- This week the students will be working on writing skills as they write a story with a beginning, middle, and end. They will learn to organize their ideas and choose a title. We will be using the 5 steps in the writing process: prewriting, drafting, revising, proofreading, and publishing. We will be looking for spelling errors, complete sentences, capitalization, punctuation, and a topic sentence with related ideas.

Math- We will be using fact families to find sums and differences and using addition and subtraction to identify missing addends.

Science-
Students will learn what foods are in the milk group. We will discuss how these foods contain calcium and help to build strong bones and teeth.

Social Studies -
We will be using the problem-solving process to decide what should be done with a vacant lot that has become a place where people dump their garbage.

Homework
Reading - read 20 minutes and complete reading log
Math - practice facts & one side of a worksheet, 2 sides of a workbook page
*Please check your child's homework and have him/her correct mistakes.
