Thanks
We would like to thank the Edders, Gonzales, Jablonski, Marrs, Moy, and Rudokas families for their donations of gift certificates to purchase books for the classroom. We we able to purchase 11 books. The children are looking forward to reading them.

Box Tops
Monday will be the last day to turn in Box Tops for Education this year. The PTO will give the second grade class with the most box top labels turned in a pizza party.

Reading/Review
We will be reading two stories this week. A Curve in the River, by Ann Cameron is a realistic fiction story. Julian is disappointed when Gloria finds the message he was trying to send around the world in a bottle. Julian's father later explains that he needs to place the bottle beyond the curve in the river. Slippery Siblings, by Sandra Weber is a nonfiction story. Blaise Bryant and his sister, Joy are champion bobsled racers, even though Blaise was born blind.

Writing
We have received our pen pal letters from Miss Pellin's third grade class. We will be reading them this week and writing back. I'm sure students have some questions they would like to ask their pen pal from Prairieview.

Math
There will be a test on Chapter 20, Place Value. We will begin Chapter 21, Compare and Order Greater Number. Students will use greater than, less than, and equal symbols to compare 3- digit numbers.

Science
Our butterflies are in the pupal stage. They should be emerging from their chrysalises within the next ten days.
