Thank You

I would like to thank all of my students for a wonderful week. The candy, cards, flowers, pictures, and sentences made Teachers' Appreciation Week very special. I would also like to thank the parents and the PTO for one of the greatest weeks of the school year.

Book Orders

I will be sending home a final book order for this year. If you wish you can order on line at www.scholastic.com/bookclubs. The class activation code is: GTFFX.

Orders will be due on Thursday, May 12th, so that books are sure to arrive before the end of the school year.

Reading
Theme: Family Time
Genre: Realistic Fiction
The story for this week is The Art Lesson. It is a story about a boy who loves to draw pictures.
Target Skills:
Phonics: vowel pairs oo, ew, ue, ou
Comprehension: evaluate the way the author uses words and pictures to tell the story.
High Frequency Words: aunt, million, pair
Vocabulary: practice, ruin, powder, smock, copy, chalk, crayons

Writing
We will be writing back to our Pen Pals from Prairieview this week.

Math
Students will write 3-digit numbers in order from greatest to least and solve problems by using a table. There will be a test on Chapter 21, Compare and Order Greater Numbers. We will begin Chapter 22, 3-Digit Addition.

Science
We will be using glasses of water to experiment with pitch. Students will continue to wait for our butterflies to emerge from their chrysalises.

Social Studies
Students will learn how science and technology have changed communication and transportation.

Homework
Reading - read 20 minutes and complete reading log
Math - practice facts & one side of a worksheet
