Congratulations! Everyone completed their reading log and earned a certificate for a personal pan pizza from Pizza Hut for the month of February.

Reading
Theme: Family Time
Genre: nonfiction
The story for this week is Brothers and Sisters. This photo-essay takes an honest look at the many variations of sibling relationships.
Target Skills:
Phonics: the –er ending in two-syllable words
Comprehension: making generalizations, evaluating
High Frequency Words: middle, trouble, uncle
Vocabulary: newborn, twins, pest, teenage, distract

Math
We will be using logical reasoning when grouping shapes by sides and vertices. We will learn how: to transform figures by translation, reflection, and rotation; use attributes to describe how two figures are congruent; and use a line of symmetry to divide a plane figure into congruent figures.

Science
Students will investigate energy from wind by using a car, tooth picks, paper and clay. They will also create a circuit with a battery, light bulb and wires.

Social Studies
We will learn that President Thomas Jefferson wanted to explore the west and how Lewis and Clark led explorers to the Pacific Ocean.


Homework
Reading - read 20 minutes and complete reading log
Math - practice facts/one side of a worksheet
