2nd Grade - Curriculum Night
I would like to invite all the parents to our Curriculum Night on Thursday, September 9.
Reading/Writing Workshop
This week the students will be working on writing
skills. They will learn to organize their ideas and choose a title. We will be using the 5 steps in the writing process: prewriting, drafting, revising, proofreading, and publishing. We will be looking for spelling errors, complete sentences, capitalization, punctuation, and a topic sentence with related ideas.

Math
We will be using different strategies: doubles, doubles plus 1, making 10, and drawing pictures; to solve addition problems. There will be a chapter test on Friday.

Science
Foods from the meat group can come from animals and plants. We will learn that foods from this group, as well as, being physically active helps to build strong muscles.
Social Studies
We will identify ways people can work together in the classroom and community by obeying rules and laws. The students will work together to create classroom rules.

Lunch- Please Remember
If your child is buying a lunch, please have them choose their lunch before arriving at school. The lunch menu can be found on the school website or at: http://www.ccsd66.org/Menus_Lunch/Sept_I.pdf. I will also make copies for children that need them to keep at home or in their Take Home Folder. It will make signing up for lunch go more smoothly. Thank you for your cooperation
