Congratulations! All of the students have completed their reading logs and earned a certificate for a free personal pan pizza from Pizza Hut for the month of April. Next, we will be working on earning a free ticket to Great America.
Character Counts - Adopt - A - Rainforest
Our school will be collecting money to contribute to small groups in tropical countries that work to stop rainforest destruction. Your child should be able to explain the importance of the rainforest and why we should try to save them.
April 23rd will be our last day for collections.
Otis-Lennon School Ability Test
Children will be taking the OLSAT on Monday and Tuesday of this week.
Reading/Language
We will continue working on our rainforest animal reports. We are currently half -way done with our draft. We hope to begin our posters this week. We will be going into the lab to find pictures.
Math
There will be a test on Chapter 17- Length, Perimeter, and Area. We will begin Chapter 18- Weight, Mass, Capacity, and Temperature. Students will be measuring mass in grams and kilograms and measuring capacity in cups, pints, quarts, and gallons.
Social Studies
We will learn about the significance of national celebrations such as Independence Day and how selected customs and celebrations reflect an American love of individualism and freedom.
Science
We will continue to observe our caterpillars. They have really grown over this week. We are waiting for the next stage of their cycle, the pupa, when they form the chysalids.
