Reading/Language Art
We will be reading several different types of texts next week.  They include: Fireflies by Julie Brinckloe, we will learn that in order to keep something you need to set it free; article titled Habitats, What Is a Habitat? from ReadWorks, that describes a habitat as a place where animals and plants live; First Big Book of the Ocean, by Catherine Hughes, this book is full pictures and information about 30 marine animals, from corals to the largest animal the blue whale; Desert Night; Desert Day, by Anthony D. Federicks, a rhyming text with beautiful illustrations that includes information about the animals of the desert; and Rain, Rain, Rain Forest, by Brenda Guiberson, this story uses colorful collages and informational text to bring the rain forest to the reader.

Math
This week we measured objects using inches, feet and yards.  Next week we will measure the length of objects and use a line plot to display the measurement data.

Science
We will begin the unit, Earth Science.  The first lesson will be to identify causes and effects of changes in the Earth's surface.
