Student of the Week
Lydia
Special Thanks ! for an awesome class Valentine's party. The children had fun playing games and decorating cookies and mailboxes. We would like to thank the parents that provided paper goods and treats for our party. And special thanks to our party parents Mrs. Conyer, Mrs. Portell, Mrs. Potter, Mrs. Rivera, and Mrs. Zebraitis.
Reminder - Children may bring in Valentine cards for their classmates. There are 21 children in our class. The cards will be passed out on Tuesday, February 14th. Please do not address the envelopes it will be easier to pass them out to their friends.
Six Flags Read to Succeed Reading Log is due by February 21st.
Reading/Language Arts
We completed our presentations on libraries around the world. The children did a wonderful job presenting their information and listening to their classmates.
Next week we will be reading City Green by DyAnne DiSalvo-Ryan. This story is about a girl who decides to turn an empty lot into a growing space for everyone to enjoy.
Our focus will be asking and answering questions to demonstrate understanding of key details in a text.
Vocabulary Words: excitement, schedule, area, heap, stems and halfway
Math
We will continue to review money and time for a chapter test.
Social Studies
We will be comparing families from different communities. We will look at a city in Arizona, an island of Hawaii and a rural community in Indiana. Children will be using their map skills to identify major landforms and bodies of water.
