Reading/Language Arts

Mrs. Sulima came into our classroom to help us with our slide presentation. The children learned how to insert pictures and change the font and background of the slides.
The story for next week will be The Big Orange Splot, by Daniel Pinkwater. Mr. Plumbean lives on a block where the houses all look the same. Everything changes when a seagull drops orange paint on Mr. Plumbean's house. The tale begins about individuality and conformity.
Math
We will continue with telling time. Children will be solving problems with reasonable estimates, describing times of events as a.m. or p.m. and determining how much time has passed from start to finish.

Science
This week we examined fossils of plants and animals that were millions of years old. Our focus for next week will be natural resources. We will discuss ways that people use natural resources and how we can protect them.
