Thank you - for a great Valentine's Day Party
Special thanks to Mrs. Gajula for planning our party, to our party parents Mr. and Mrs. Aldaqaq, Mr. Hayes, and Mrs. Guardi. We would also like to thank the parents that provided the healthy treats and paper products. The children had an awesome time.
Reminder - Six Flags, Student Reading Log is due February 23rd.
Poetry Book
Please check your child's folder for information about our 2nd grade poetry book. The children have been busy writing poetry this week and their poem will be published by Studentreasures Publishing. You will have the opportunity to purchase this book to share with family and friends.
Reading
We will be reading City Green by DyAnne Disalvo-Ryan. In this story a young girl is inspired to turn a littered vacant lot in the city into a space for everyone to enjoy.
Focus: important details about how a story begins and ends
Writing: write a narrative that includes actions, thoughts and feelings with a closing statement
Math
The children will be telling time to the quarter hour, to the five minutes, and telling time as minutes before the hour.
Science
We will learn how fossils are formed when plants and animals are buried under mud, clay or sand. Scientists can learn about animals that lived millions of years ago by comparing fossils to plants and animals that live today.
