Six Flags Great America - Information was sent home on Thursday about the Six Flags Read to Succeed Program. Children that read for six hours, 360 minutes, and fill out the Six Flags Student Reading Log will receive one free admission ticket, valid at one participating Six Flags theme park on select dates during the 2016 season.
Classroom Reading Logs - for October will be due on Monday, November 2nd. Children that turn in their completed Reading Log for 21 days and have a parent signature will be able to participate in the reading reward for the classroom. The children voted to have a Show and Tell. Show and Tell will be on Wednesday, November 4th.
Reading/Language Arts
We will be working on poetry next week. We will start with the Runaway Pumpkin. Children will learn about rhyme, rhythm, regular beats, repetition, figurative language and alliteration.
Grammar - We will focus on past tense of irregular verbs.
Math
The children did a great job with adding 2-digit numbers with and without regrouping. They also did a great job estimating numbers to the nearest tens. Next week we will begin subtracting tens and subtracting 2-digit numbers with and without regrouping.
Science
This week the children explored their science books looking for text features. We will continue our treasure hunt for more features next week. Children will learn that the needs of plants depend on their size and type.

Reading - read for 20 minutes and complete Reading Log
Math - practice facts
Spelling - practice words
