See Saw
Mrs. Sulima came into our classroom to help the children post their name stamp in See Saw.  The children enjoyed adding text, voice and drawings to their assignment.  Please take the opportunity to view their work.

Reading/Language
We have finished reading and discussing the story of Owen (hippo)  and Mzee (aldabra tortoise).  Next week the children will begin their first research project for the year.  They will gather information from various sources about hippos and  aldabra tortoises.  Their report will include a topic sentence, information and closing sentence.

Math

  • use place value to describe the value of digits in numbers
  • use place value to understand the meaning of the digit in numbers
  • use expanded form
  • add on multiplies of 10
  • regroup for addition

Social Studies
We will learn how Benjamin Banneker helped President Washington plan a new capital city for our nation.
Children will make an Illinois booklet with the state's animal, fish, insect, fossil, reptile, etc.
