We would like to thank the families of Tyler,  Konstantine, Emily, Daisy, Rahul, Jenin, Charlotte, and Ryan for making donations to our classroom library.  We have some exciting books for everyone to read.

Literacy Night
Please join us for our Daily Five Literacy Night on Wednesday, October 7th, from 5:45-7:35.  You can register at:  Literacy Night

Reading/Language Arts
We will be doing a close read of Weird Friends:  Unlikely Allies in the Animal Kingdom by Jose Aruego.  Children will be identifying the main topic of multi-paragraph text, determining meaning of words, identifying the main purpose of a text and describing how reasons support specific points the author makes.  
We will continue to work on nouns and proper nouns.

Math
Beginning next week, time-test will be given to children who had the opportunity to practice.  If your child was unable to practice they will not be required to take the test.
Children will be working next week to build fluency in adding and subtracting with sums and minuends to 20 using mental strategies.  

Science
We will be reviewing the five food groups for a unit test.

Homework
Reading - read for 20 minutes and complete reading log
Math - practice facts
Spelling - practice words, test on Friday
