Student of the Week
Michael

Reminders
  • I am looking forward to Parent-Teacher Conferences next week.  If you need to reschedule, please let me know.
  • Thursday, Oct. 30th- Our reading incentive reward is Spooky Story Day, wear black and orange and bring a Halloween book from home to share.
  • Friday, Oct. 31st - Children should bring their costume to school in a bag.  They will be given time to change.  Everyone is invited to watch our Halloween parade outside (weather permitting) at 1:45.
Field Trip
Everyone had a terrific time at the fire station.  We were able to see where the firemen sleep, eat, and workout.  The children were given the opportunity to go inside an ambulance and a fire truck.  The best part for many of the children was being able to turn on the hose and aim it at a hole in a roof (which was on the ground).

Writing
We finished our descriptive writing about our Halloween costumes.  Students will be presenting their paragraph the class.  Their classmates will have the opportunity to guess what they will be for Halloween.
We will be working on irregular plural nouns.

Math
We finished Topic 5 and completed the test.  Next week we will begin Topic 6, Mental Addition.  Children will mentally add multiples of 10 and ones to a two-digit number.  They will use a hundred chart to add two-digit numbers.

Science

We have completed our unit on nutrition this week.  Hopefully everyone is making good choices to stay healthy.

Social Studies
We will be finishing up Unit 1, Where We Live.  There will be two projects next week, state symbols and communities.  *Please have your child bring in pictures of urban, rural, and suburban communities.
