2nd Grade Musical - a letter from Miss Wyse
Hello 2nd Grade Parents,
I am excited to announce that our 2nd grade musical will be Thursday, November 20th at 7PM in the Lakeview gymnasium. Please mark your calendars! Students will be listening to their show this week in music class. Some students may even get a speaking part! Please use this link to get to the lyric sheets for this show and music to practice at home.

Reading
This week the students looked into the character traits of Chester and Lily.  Students were asked to explain their choices using text proof.  We compared and contrasted the two characters using these traits.  
Next week we will read The Name Jar, by Yangsook Choi.  This story is a very touching tale of a girl, from another country, who is starting at a new school.  The children can't pronounce her name so she considers taking an American name until she learns that she is special just the way she is.  
*There will be an information sheet sent home, please help your child fill in the information to learn about how their name was chosen.

Writing
We will continue to get ideas for writing.  Students will focus on fun things they do with their family and add details to make their stories more interesting for their audience.

 Math
There will be a review and test on Topic 2, Addition Strategies.  We will begin Topic 3, Subtraction Strategies.  Addition and subtraction have an inverse relationship.  The inverse relationship between addition can be used to find subtraction facts.  Students will subtract 0, 1, and 2 and use double facts and related addition facts to subtract.

 Science
We will focus on the Vegetable Group and the Fruit Group.  Students will identify foods needed for good night vision and foods they need to help their bodies heal cuts and bruises. Students will listen to the story The Visit to the Vegetable Patch and identify the adjectives.

Math - practice facts & workbook page
Spelling - practice words
