Progress Reports
Progress Reports will be going home on Friday, as needed.  Students meeting grade level expectations will not receive a progress report.  If you child receives a Progress Report, please sign and return it to school.

Reading
We will be reading The Paper Crane, by Molly Bang.  In this story a man is proud of his busy roadside diner.  But since a new highway replaced the old road, few customers stop anymore to rest and eat. One day a poor, ragged stranger appears, and the man feeds him generously. For his kindness the stranger gives him a gift that will change his fortunes -a magical paper crane.  Students will practice making connections and wondering.
Vocabulary - fetch, murmur, sturdy, guide
We will also be reading a nonfiction story, Exploring Parks with Ranger Dockett.  Ranger Dockett is an urban park ranger who teaches people about exploring nature.
Vocabulary - exploring, urban, protect, ranger, tours, habitat
