Pictures/Money - Spring pictures have been sent home.  Please remember to return unwanted pictures and money for any pictures you wish to purchase.  
Thank you to the parents that have already turned in their pictures/money.

Conferences - Spring conferences are scheduled as needed.  If you received an email please sign up for a time that is convenient.  If you are not available at the scheduled times, please let me know.

Our Different Cultures
The children have done a great job sharing and learning about some of the different cultures that are represented in our classroom.  We had the opportunity to see things from Germany, India, Ireland, Macedonia, Mexico and Poland.


Reading
Theme:  Family Time
Genre: realistic fiction
The story for this week is Carousel.  Alex's father misses her birthday party, and everything is spoiled until the animals on his gift of a tiny carousel come to life in a dream.

Math
We will begin Chapter 19, Fractions.  Students will compare unit fractions by using models and identify fractions that represent more than 1 equal part of a whole.

Science
There will be a review of Chapter 11, Light and Heat for the test.  We will begin working on projects for the rainforest.

Social Studies
We will begin Unit 5, Our Country Long Ago.  Vocabulary Words are:  shelter, tradition, explorer, colony, colonist, independence and pioneer.
