Reading Theme: Wrap-Up Overview 
Connecting and Comparing Literature 
The stories for this week are Grandpa's Corner Store and Barrio: Jose's Neighborhood. Grandpa's Corner Store is realistic fiction. When a giant supermarket opens in the neighborhood, Lucy helps save her grandfather's small corner grocery store with a little help from her friends.
Barrio: Jose's Neighborhood is a nonfiction story. Jose Luis lives in el barrio-a San Francisco neighborhood where his own culture thrives and where people of many cultures live, work, and play together. 
Vocabulary Words:  deliveries,  fiesta,  flyer,  traditions, grocery store, harvest, success, barrio, grand opening, supermarket, customs

Math
Students will solve problems by using the strategies act it out and guess & check.  We will also be adding and subtracting money amounts less than one dollar.

Science
We will begin the chapter What Can We Learn from Fossils?  Students will learn how fossils can teach us about the past and how they were formed million of years ago.

Social Studies
There will be a test on Unit 3, Working Together.  We will begin Unit 4, Our Country Today.  The vocabulary words are:  government, mayor, citizen, governor, Congress, President, freedom, motto, and monument.
