Connecting and Comparing
The stories for this week are The Surprise and Hippos.
The Surprise is a fantasy story where Martha gets angry at George
for playing a trick, but she can't stay angry for long. Instead, she finds a way to get even.
Hippos is a nonfiction story that gives facts about hippos, including where they live, what they look like, and how they behave in the wild.

Target Skills

Comprehension: predicting outcomes

Reading Strategies: connecting and comparing

Vocabulary Words: cross, relatives, observed, nostrils, thoroughly, moisture, unmoved, mammal, wicked, herds

Math
We will round numbers to the nearest 10, model and recognize even and odd numbers to recognize patterns, and identify patterns on a hundred chart.

Science
Students will learn about the grain food group from Prince Waffle. Grains provide our body with energy.

Social Studies
Students will demonstrate map and globe skills as they identify the place where they live in relation to their neighborhood, community, state, and country.
