Reading
Genre: realistic fiction
The story for this week is Carousel. Alex's father misses her birthday party, and everything is spoiled until the animals on his gift of a tiny carousel come to life in a dream.
Target Skills:

Comprehension:

High Frequency Words:

Vocabulary: angry, grumbled, groaned, fussed, grumpily


Math
There will be a review of Chapter 16-Patterns, for a test. We will begin Chapter 17- Length, Perimeter, and Area.

Science
We will review for a chapter test on Living and Nonliving Things.

Social Studies
We will begin Unit 5, Our Country Long Ago. The students will use visual sources to determine the meaning of the vocabulary words for this unit. The vocabulary words are shelter, tradition, explorer, colony, colonist, independence, and pioneer.
