Special Visitor 
The children had an opportunity to meet Mrs. Krupicka, Darien's citizen of the year.  Mrs. Krupicka talked to the children about her contributions to the community.  The children learned how people can make a difference in their community.

Reading/Language Arts
Next week children will be learning about 3 habitats: the desert, the ocean and the rainforest.  Each child will select an animal from one of these habitats for an animal report. They will use text features such as: the table of contents, index, illustrations, etc. to collect information for their report.

Math
The math objectives for next week include:

  • comparing digits with the greatest value first
  • looking for a pattern to solve a problem
There will be a review and test on Place Value to 1000.

Social Studies
We will learn how the government establishes order, provides security and manages conflict.  We will identify the functions of our local and state government.
Vocabulary: mayor, citizen, governor
