Reading
Theme:   Focus on Biography
The biographies this week include:  Reach for the Stars:  The Ellen 
Ochoa Story, President Theodore Roosevelt, and Wilma Rudolph:  
Olympic Track Champion.
Target Skills:
Phonics: r-controlled vowels; words endings, -tion, -ture
Comprehension: understanding biography; evaluate
High Frequency Words: about, afraid, beautiful, believe, friend, near, surprised, watch     write,  years
Vocabulary: biography, event, information, champion, fact, President
The students will also be reading an additional biography and making a time-line of the important events in the person's life.

Math
Students will determine how much time has passed from start to finish and learn about the relationship of units of time.  There will be a test on Chapter 13, Time.  We will begin Chapter 14, Solid Figures.

Science
We will begin Chapter 6, Natural Resources.  Students will identify air, water, rocks, soil, plants and animals as natural resources and describe ways people use them.

Social Studies
Students will learn how state governments establish order, provide security, and manage conflict.

Homework
Reading - read for 20 minutes, fill out reading log & log for Great America
Math - practice facts & worksheet
Spelling - practice words
