Happy Valentine's Day

We would to thank our party helpers Mrs. Kalal, Mrs. Marrs, Mrs. Padavic, and Mrs. Spencer in advance for planning the Valentine party. The children will have a great time playing games and making crafts. I'm sure they will be anxious to bite into the cookie they will decorate with frosting and sugars.

Theme: Amazing Animals

The story for this week is Ant. This photographic nonfiction book examines the physical characteristics, life cycle and natural habitat of various types of ants.
Target Skills:
Phonics:
words with nd, nt, mp, ng, nk and endings in nouns (-s, -es, -ies).
Comprehension:
text organization, questioning
High Frequency Words: between, care, weigh
Vocabulary: antennae, colonies, fungus, larvae, cocoons, tunnels

Math
We will learn about the relationships of unit time: weeks, months and years. There will be a chapter test on Time. We will begin chapter 14, Solid Figures.

Science
There will be a review for the Unit Test, Our Earth.

Social Studies
We will learn how Ella Cara Deloria, a Native American, wrote books to help people understand the culture of the Sioux people.
