Reminders:
There will be a Parent meeting at Prairieview on May 19th, at 6:30. Parents will have the opportunity to meet members of the staff, learn about the curriculum, and tour the building.

All library books are due back on Monday, May 17th.

Reading
Theme: Talent Show
Genre: Realistic Fiction/Moses Goes to a Concert.
We will read the story about a deaf boy named Moses, who goes to a concert with his class. The deaf percussionist helps Moses and his classmates realize they can be anything they want.
Target Skills
Phonics: long i (igh and ie)
Comprehension: noting details, summarizing
Vocabulary Words: deaf, hearing, instruments, sign, vibrations

Math
We will use place value to compare numbers and write 3-digit numbers in order from greatest to least. Students will also be tested for math groups next year.

Science
We will be classifying leaves and comparing the structural characteristics of different plants.

Social Studies
Students will learn that customs and celebrations reflect an American love of individualism, inventiveness, and freedom.

The school picnic will be Friday, May 28th. The PTO will be providing a McDonald's hamburger, chips, and a drink.
